How to make an appointment.
Before we can help you we need a referral from your own dentist. This can be sent via the website, by email or post and will give a brief outline of your problem. We communicate with our referring dentists regularly so that they know our referral system. Once we have received the referral, Rachel Stagg, our Practice Manager, will contact you by your preferred method, explain our online registration process and book an appointment for a consultation. Once the appointment is made, a 'welcome email' will be forwarded with details of the registration process. You will also be given a 'registraion code' over the phone to complete your online registration. This has to be completed at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Directions to the practice can be found on this website. Access to the practice is at the back of the building where there is a car park.
A consultation would be carried out to assess the problem, arrive at a diagnosis and confirm the treatment required. This is a separate appointment.
The fee for your endodontic treatment will be based on the tooth involved and the extent of treatment necessary. During your first visit we will discuss the probable number of visits, their length, and the fees involved. Endodontic fees range from £975.00 for a front tooth and from £1075.00 for a molar tooth. Complex cases and revision of previous treatment will incur higher fees and start from £1075.00 for a front tooth and from £1150.00 for a molar tooth. The consultation fee, which may include a CBCT scan, is £190.00. Following the consultation appointment a treatment plan and detailed estimate of costs will be forwarded to you. It is our policy that your care is paid for at the time of treatment. We accept most credit and debit cards, as well as cheques and cash. Due to the nature of our practice and the complexity of the cases we treat, it is not possible for us to accept insurance in lieu of payment. We will, however, provide you with all the information required by your insurance company so that you may obtain any reimbursements due you.
Following completion of treatment, a full report, including copies of digital images, will be sent to your own dentist. This will inform him or her of the treatment carried out, the prognosis and any recommendations for restoration. As some root filled teeth, particularly molars and premolars, are susceptible to fracture we usually recommend your dentist constructs a crown or onlay to protect the tooth from chewing forces.
In most cases we review healing with a follow-up radiograph - usually one year after completion of treatment. There is no charge for this appointment.
However, in cases following trauma, it may not be necessary to carry out root canal treatment immediately, or at all, as sometimes the damaged pulp can recover and continue to function. Review at regular intervals, involving retesting of multiple teeth, would then be advised so that we can intervene should treatment become necessary. The fee for trauma review appointments is £150.00.
